Disclosure statement

Publicly available information, provided under the Financial Markets Conduct (Regulated Financial Advice Disclosure) Amendment Regulations 2020.

Licensing information

Lagervik Private Clients is the personal insurance advisory practice of SM21 Limited.

Setti Mulari (FSP1012700) provides financial advice under the Financial Advice Provider licence held by I 'n' I Advise Limited (FSP775117), which is licensed and regulated by the Financial Markets Authority to provide financial advice.

There are no conditions or limitations on that licence beyond those which apply to all Financial Advice Provider licences.

Nature and scope of the advice

We provide financial advice on personal risk and health insurance. Specifically:

  • Life cover
  • Trauma and critical illness cover
  • Total and permanent disablement cover
  • Income protection
  • Mortgage repayment and redundancy cover
  • Health and medical insurance

We do not provide advice on investments, KiwiSaver, mortgages or lending, or fire and general insurance. Where you need advice in those areas we will tell you plainly and, where we can, point you to someone who does.

Our advice is limited to the products offered by the insurers we are accredited with. We do not review every product available in the New Zealand market. The list of insurers we work with is available on request.

Fees and expenses

Charges may apply, depending on the complexity of your circumstances and the work involved.

Where a fee applies, the amount or the basis on which it is calculated is agreed with you in writing at the outset, before any work begins. You will not be invoiced for anything that has not been agreed in advance.

Where we arrange cover, we may also receive a commission from the insurer that issues your policy. Any commission is paid by the insurer and is not deducted from your premium as a separate charge. The amount and basis of that commission will be disclosed to you in writing before you decide whether to proceed.

If a policy is cancelled or replaced within a period specified by the insurer, typically the first two years, we may be required to repay some or all of that commission. This does not create a charge to you.

Conflicts of interest and incentives

Where we receive commission on cover we arrange, there is an inherent conflict between our interest and yours. We manage that conflict as follows:

  • We follow the six-step advice process and put your interests first, as required by our duties under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.
  • We disclose any fee and any commission before you make a decision.
  • Recommendations are made on the basis of your circumstances and needs, and the reasoning is documented in writing so that you can see it.
  • Our advice is subject to review and supervision by our Financial Advice Provider.

From time to time insurers may provide product training, hospitality or support that is not contingent on placing business. Any incentive that could materially influence a recommendation will be disclosed to you.

Our duties

We are bound by the duties in the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 to:

  • meet the standards of competence, knowledge and skill set out in the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services;
  • give priority to your interests by taking all reasonable steps to ensure that our advice is not materially influenced by our own interests;
  • exercise care, diligence and skill in providing you with advice; and
  • meet the standards of ethical behaviour, conduct and client care set out in the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services.

How you receive this information

This disclosure statement is given to every client in writing before any advice is provided.

At our first meeting you will be asked to sign a short acknowledgement confirming that you have received it and understood it. We do not provide advice to anyone who has not done so.

The purpose is straightforward. It means no client can be left uncertain about what we advise on, what we do not advise on, how we are paid, or what to do if something goes wrong. If anything in this statement is unclear when you read it, say so at the meeting and we will go through it again.

Complaints and dispute resolution

If you have a problem, concern or complaint about any part of our service, please tell us so that we can put it right.

In the first instance, contact Setti Mulari at [email protected] or on 07 808 7882.

Complaints may also be raised with our Financial Advice Provider, I 'n' I Advise Limited, by contacting Gaurav Goodwani at [email protected]. There is an internal complaints process, and your concerns will be investigated promptly and fairly.

If we cannot agree on how to resolve the issue, or if you decide not to use the internal complaints process, you can contact our approved dispute resolution scheme, the Financial Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS). FDRS provides a free and independent dispute resolution service.
